QB Profiles

  • Peyton Manning
  • Jim Druckenmiller
  • Jake Plummer
  • Pat Barnes
  • Quarterbacks

Peyton Manning will not enter the NFL draft, he would have been chosen first or second overall. Manning is a franchise quarterback and has all the skills to become a star in the NFL. Since Manning decided to return for his Senior year at Tennessee, this draft is without a star caliber quarterback. However, Jim Druckenmiller, out of Virginia Tech, is top prospect who’s stock has skyrocketed over the last few months. This is mainly due to his impressive Senior Bowl week and he may now be chosen among the top 15 players overall. After Druckenmiller, you shouldn’t see a quarterback taken until the late second or third round. Jake Plummer and Pat Barnes could be selected around here. Both have good skills, but need some polishing.

Some sleepers who’s names could be called on the second day of the draft are: Mike Cherry (Murry State), Jason Martin (Louisiana Tech), and Eric Kresser (Marshall). Kresser is of particular interest because he transferred to Marshall from Florida his Senior year to avoid sitting on the bench behind Heisman Trophy winner, Danny Wuerfell. It’s ironic that Kresser may be drafted, where as Wuerfell will probably go undrafted. Wuerfell was a great college quarterback, but scouts don’t like his delivery, arm strength, or size.
