    TEAM NEEDS

1.There are two major needs that should be considered with th # 9 pick, guard and defensive back. It shouldn’t take long to figure this one out. The DB’s worthy of a top ten pick will already be gone, and the two best guard’s in the draft should still be on the board. There is also the possibility the Cardinals may go for a linebacker, but I think the only real decision to be made is which guard to take.

Bob Sapp (Washington) 6’5" 305 (5.00) He’s a devestating run blocker who also can play tackle.
Chris Naeole (Colorado) 6’3" 315 (5.10) The best pure guard in the draft, better pass blocker, and more experienced at guard then Sapp.

2.The secondary is only set at one position. Aeneas Williams is set on one side, but other than that nobody’s job is safe. With the # 42 pick there will be a lot of quality DB’s to choose from.

      Chris Canty (Kansas St.) 5’10" 195 (4.45)
      Sam Madison (Louisville) 5’11" 180 (4.49)
      Ty Howard (Ohio St.) 5’9" 185 (4.36)
      Kim Herring (Penn St.) 5’11" 190 (4.50)
      Rob Kelly (Ohio St.) 6’2" 200 (4.55)
      Tommy Knight (Iowa) 5’11" 195 (4.43)

3.The Cardinals need speed at wide receiver. There should still be some very good prospects available at # 71.

      Brian Manning (Stanford) 5’11" 181 (4.54)
      Joey Kent (Tennessee) 6’0" 187 (4.54)
      Albert Connell (Texas A&M) 6’0" 185 (4.5)
      Derrick Mason (Michigan St.) 5’11" 195 (4.53)
      Antwuan Wyatt (Bethune-Cookman) 5’10" 200 (4.55)
      Kevin Lockett (Kansas St.) 5’11" 175 (4.50)

4.The need for depth at linebacker should be addressed at this point(# 106).

      Cornell Brown (Virginia Tech) 6’1" 245 (4.90)
      Derrick Rodgers (Arizona St.) 6’1" 225 (4.70)
      Keith Mitchell (Texas A&M) 6’2" 235 (4.70)

5.With pick # 139, there should be some quality DB’s still available.

      Anthony Fogle (Oklahoma)
      Chris Carter (Texas) 6’2" 200 (4.45)
      Terrell Farley (Nebraska) 5’11" 200 (4.52)
      Cory Gilliard (Ball St.) 6’1" 218 (4.49)
      Van Hiles (Kentucky) 5’11" 190 (4.60)
      Donovan Greer (Texas A&M) 5’9" 175 (4.48)
      Hudhaifa Ismaeli (Northwestern) 5’11" 193 (4.50)

6.Look for a running back to be selected at # 175.

      Terry Battle (Arizona St.) 5’11" 200 (4.55)
      Leon Johnson (North Carolina) 6’0" 210 (4.55)
      Spencer George (Rice) 5’9" 200 (4.35)
      Jesse Haynes (N.W.Missouri St.) 5’9" 205 (4.51)

7.Pick # 212 could bring a QB of the future to the Cardinals

      eric kresser (marshall) 6’2" 220 (4.77)
      mike cherry (murray st.) 6’4" 230 (5.01)
      brad otten (usc) 6’5" 228 (4.95)
      lance funderburk (valdosta st.) 6’4" 215 (4.80)
